These are services that attempt to publicize your work once it's published or to give you an idea of how your work can best be marketed.
Some of these businesses work differently in that they promote unpublished works (primarily on the Internet) to actual literary agents. So far, P&E has heard that one of these sites claims to have assisted some writers place their manuscripts with agents or sell to publishers. We do not know if this is the beginning of a new way to do business in the literary industry or merely a fad. As always, P&E recommends using caution.

ABC Banners: Site features free banners and tools for making them.
ABS Publishing Consultants: "serves only as a consultant to help writers find printers, marketing specialists, book designers, et cetera so they can self-publish their own book. We do not have any association with any one printer or out-sourced service and all services are sent out to bid and chosen by the client. We are paid an hourly fee for our services as consultants and receive no commission or royalty or any remuneration other than the consultant fee."
Active Books: Reviews of books on current social activism.
Ad-A-Jingle(tm): Promotional site. Link reported broken.
Adam's Book Reviews: Dead. A book review site.
AdDesigner.com: "a unique FREE service that gives you the power to design and download professional-quality, animated banner ads quickly and easily. Ahmed A. Khan's Index of Online Fiction: "resource for researchers of online literature (particularly genre literature)." Each month, this site rates short stories published online.
Alternative Worlds: A science fiction and fantasy book review site.
Amrita Poetry Pages: Modern poetry and book reviews.
Australian SF Online (formerly Oz: Science Fiction and Fantasy): Australian page dedicated to demystifying Aussie speculative fiction. Has other non-Aussie stuff and listing of Aussie speculative bookstores, too.
Authors Den: Lists authors and their works along with links to booksellers.
