Permissions

Our apologies, but the original Permissions page was lost when transferring the site from its old home. Use this link to gain permission for material included in a manuscript that a writer might send to a publisher.

Proposals

Learn how to write a proposal that a non-fiction writer might send to a publisher. Use this link to view a successful book proposal, RISING TO THE LOCUTION, which may prove useful as a model.

Synopsis:

Perhaps the best example of a synopsis is one that resulted in publication. Preditors & Editors suggests that you click on this link to see an example of a successful synopsis. Note: if any writer is willing to share another successful example, P&E will gladly display it so other writers can gain a better feel for what works.

Submission Formats

Here are some formats used when sending a manuscript to a publisher. Click on the link in the heading to read about them

Sample Screenplay

Here is what a screenplay format should look like courtesy of The Little Read Writer's Hood. 12/2/05: A writer reports this link is inactive. According to other sources, this format might be for a stage play only. There are other formats in use for screenplays, so please be certain that you use the right format for your submission. Otherwise, you could be wasting your time and effort. Our thanks to John Cullen for pointing this out.

Another writer informs us that Drew's Script-o-rama displays a wide selection of "produced screenplays -- most exhibiting proper format."
